50 GOAL CLUB
The Wolves have seen their fair share of 50 goal scorers in their history as evidenced by the amount of Jari Kurri Award(most goals in TWHL season) winners and runner ups they have had through the seasons. Through the first 8 seasons of TWHL history, the Wovles have managed to have someone light the lamp 50 times in a season no fewer than 4 times.
TWHL 1 Magnus Arvedsson 50 goals
Magnus Arvedsson was the first ever winner of the Hart Trophy in TWHL history
for his TWHL1 performance where he scored 50 goals and added 46 assists in a
mere 60 games played. Had Arvedsson been able to avoid injury that season, his
goal totals may have never been reached in a single season again. He was also an
incredible +46 in those 60 games. Arvedsson's season was from the Darryl Singhi
GM'ed days, so I now not much except that he was acquired from then New York
Ranger GM Corwin whateverhisname. A simply incredible season.
TWHL 3 Marcel Dionne 56 goals
Captain Marcel led the league in goals and grabbed the Jari Kurri award for his
troubles. He also won the Pearson award as most valuable player to his team.
Considering no one else had more than 28 goals on the team, and he did lead them
not only to the playoffs, but to a single game away from the final, when the
team lost a heartbreaking Game 7 in Brazil to the highly favored Rio Carnivals
in the conference championship. Marcel added 36 assists for a 92 point season.
TWHL 6 Marcel Dionne 59 goals
An incredible beginning to the season saw Marcel having visions of shattering
the 63 goal record. He did cool off around the mid way point of the season
before finishing with the second most goals in the TWHL's history, by potting 59
goals. The 59 goals got him the Kurri and Pearson awards and he also won the
Cuervo Gold and BOB awards. He added 46 assists for a team record 105 point
season. The team did make the playoffs and then shocked favored Vancouver and
Toronto before losing to the Mexico Burritos in the conference championship.
TWHL 7 Pascal Dupuis 58 goals
Pascal Dupuis was
acquired from the Santiago franchise before TWHL5 began. (Curious that Commish
Easton also traded us Dionne from there in one of the many days of having no
Santiago GM). Dupuis came over highly touted after a great rookie season for
Santiago in TWHL4. He did manage seasons of 26 and 34 goals in his first 2 LA
seasons, before absolutely exploding in TWHL7 for a near team record 58 goals.
He was put on a line with Marcel Dionne, and the usual sharpshooting Dionne was
willing to play set up man to the hot hand of Dupuis. Dionne finished the season
with 55 helpers, one of only 5 Wolves that took advantage of Dupuis's 58 goals
to garner themselves 50+ assists. (Phillips(61), Koivu(57), Salei(56),Dionne(55)
and Mara(54)). Pascal himself added 30 assists for a career high 88 point
season. He won the Jari Kurri Award for most goals, and also had th emost GWG
and won the BOB award for the season.
