Profile: Adam Foote was selected 70th overall in the inaugural DHHL draft
by the Peterborough Smoke Eaters. Foote became one of the DHHL's top defensive
defensemen of all time. He was a big part of three Die Hard Cup winning teams.
He drank champagne with the Portland Grave Diggers in DHHL4, and was part of
Capreol's cup winning teams in DHHL10 and 13.
In DHHL4, he had what may have been his career season. Playing as the big
bruiser on the cup winning Portland team, Foote showed offensive flair that
season as well, leading all defensemen in points and all players period, in
assists. In DHHL6, still with the Portland team, Foote displayed the toughness
he has always had, when he led the DHHL in penalty minutes.
Goal scoring was never a forte of Adam's. It was never something that was
expected of him however. In 13 seasons, only once did Adam reach double digits
in goals, that being his 13 goal season in DHHL11 with Capreol. He was always
able to move the puck swiftly out of his end though, as evidenced by his 577
career assists. Foote had 3459 career PIMS in his career.
Foote was a favorite of two of the league's founders, which can be seen by the
fact that it is the only two GM's he ever played for. After being drafted by W.
Trainor's Peterborough Smoke Eaters in the inaugaral draft, and a comment of
"Shit" from P. Nilsson, Foote began his career with the PSE. Right around the
time that Trainor was handing the reigns of Peterborough to Tim Kastelle, Foote
saw himself being moved to the Portland Grave Diggers and their GM P. Nilsson.
He remained in Portland until near the DHHL10 deadline, when Nilsson finally
gave in to W. Trainor, who had returned a couple seasons previous to take over
Capreol(Prevost). Foote returned to the GM who had originally drafted him and
stayed there until deciding to call it a career after the DHHL13 season.
Capreol was saddened by the loss of Foote, however his career was a beacon of
success.
