Admirals Coast
Admirals Coast follows route 60 along the western and southern shores of Conception Bay. From Marysvale to Paradise you will tour a coastal route that will let you check out all the nooks and crannys along the way. Today the area is a mix of rural and urban. The rural western section includes Conception Harbour, where there has been a garden party every summer for over nine decades. Conception Harbour and Colliers are attractive little communities which are typical of the areas beautiful coastal scenery. If you explore a little you may find the old beached whaler down the harbour.

Railway Station Museum Avondale


At Avondale the provinces railway history is preserved in the railway museum . In Avondale you can picnic near the site of an old sawmill by a river on an access road that joins route 60 to route 1. Continue north along the narrow winding coastal highway to the picturesque harbour community of Middle Arm.

Continue past Lakeview to Holyrood which is known for its marina and annual summer Squid Fest. Holyrood is a favorite area for sailing enthusiasts. Before continuing your tour you may want to take a dip in the swimming pool at Holyrood's Municipal Park. Great Hiking trails in the area include George Cove and Butterpot Mountains with their rewarding views of Conception Bay. Hawke Hill Alpine barren ecological reserve is well off the beaton path. Holyroods central location on the Avalon gives visitors many great options for day trips to all the popular touring routes in the area.

Conception Bay South is a collection of shoreline communities, from Seal Cove to Topsail. Kelligrews is the site of the celebrated folk song "The Kelligrews Soiree.", which is also the name of an annual folk festival in July. Icebergs sometimes visit Kelligrews There is a Marina at Foxtrap, as well as the Royal Newfoundland Yacht Club in Long Pond. At Manuels you can search for trilobite fossils along the banks of the Manuels River and walking trail. A day use park has been developed at the popular Topsail Beach .

Butterpot Provincial Park



Just Past Topsail, there is the Town of Paradise, which has developed a walking trail around Neil's Pond. Turn left off route 60 onto route 50 through St. Thomas and St. Phillips to Portugal Cove, where you can take the ferry to Bell Island.
