I am glad that you emailed me because I have been thinking about writing to you regarding the United Church’s stand on marrying gay individuals.  I find this hard to understand.  It is not testing my faith in God but it is undermining my commitment to the United Church.  I don’t know how to deal with this matter.  I feel that I cannot support the United Church in this.  To me, it goes against all of the Bible’s teachings.  If you have the time, could you please respond with your thinking on the matter.

Dear R.

Thank you for sending my a lovely e-mail.

You asked me about my personal view on “marrying gay individuals.

First of all I am sympathize with you on the issue.

Of course, everyone is God’s children and God loves everyone.

Yet, God does not love every behavior of individual people.

There are some things God would permits us, while other things not.

I personally do not agree on the issue of marring gay individuals.

1. God created a man and a woman and blessed them to be fruitful.

2. Each individual is responsible to build up the future generation.

3. Marriage life implies two opposite sex people to join in intimate physical relationship.

Only two opposite sex people can achieve meaningful copulation in marriage.  All others will be merely selfish and destructive to oneself and to its partner.

Regarding the United Church’s position on the subject:  I can se how you are feeling.

You said you feel that you cannot support the United Church in this.  I am glad to know that you made your position so clear.  You may have your choice in any other issues.  No one should force you to take only a certain position.  I believe it is our church’s strength as well as beauty.  That is, Diversity in Unity.  I am glad that I am allowed to be different from others.  God bless you in your search for answers.

In His Service

James.
