The Damson tree!

Foreboding & unwelcoming the Damson tree towers towards the sun, its thorns sanctuary for some but menacing to others. As it stands naked and fruitless before the scrutiny of humanity it reeks of impending doom. Nothing more than an ugly, contemptuous obstruction needing to be cut down and so the damson tree sucumbs to the wrought of man, yet another victim of humanities unyielding loathing for all things that are perceived threatening.

Sometimes we see without observing and cut down anything that we dislike without giving it a chance to show promise.

The damson tree does indeed have the potential to cause harm but if you look beyond the thorns and cultivate with respect rather than contempt you’ll find it can blossom beautifully and bear much fruit. At first bite even its fruit can be bitter but a little patience and a willing, caring hand can mix in just the right amount of ingredients to make the damson plum a very acceptable delicacy.

In essence all things have a place in our existence and we can forge ahead with greater promise if we find ways to live with and use what’s available to us and not destroy it.

Look neither on nature’s gifts nor each other with distain but rather find reason’s to paint a portrait of harmony where all things and all people grow together. For in the end it’s very likely that which we have destroyed could have ultimately been the source of our survival.
