How to apply stitching tapes and covering strips
Doped-on method
Stitching tape:
1. Cut the stitching tapes to cord length if needed. (strips to short to span the cord can be butted to another keeping the stitch spacing  consistant).
2. Mark rib width lines the width of your ribs or cap strips on the upper surface using a pencil
3. Cut the strips to rib width.
4. Remove the heavier lower backing and apply the stitching tape, leaving the upper backing in place until you are ready to apply a covering strip. (stitches are face up).

The adhesive on the stitching tape will also help to hold the covering strips in place.

Covering strips:
Option 1
-Carefully apply dope on the covering up to the edges on both sides of the stitching tape where the covering strip will go.
-Remove the upper backing from the stitching tape.
-apply your covering strip.
-apply dope over the entire covering strip making sure to seep it through specially on the edges. At this point, dope seeping onto the tape will not have any problems. Just be sure to press the brush down firmly.
Option 2
-Remove the upper backing from the stitching tape.
-Apply the covering strip firmly pressing down.
-Lift the edges of the covering strip and apply dope between the covering and covering strip.
-Apply dope over the entire covering strip as above
