Click on the following link to get to the album full of pictures.
I suggest you try the slide show and set it on intervals of 2.
Enjoy all the pics. The album is called katscraft
and the
password is the name for our adventure. Be patient
it takes a
couple of minutes to load.
We moved here in Jul 2003. A lot of credit for the gardens go to
the previous owner. Thanks Joanne. I love to garden but by
July I am usually tired of it. Thats why my pics from Aug are
weedy looking. I'll get some better ones posted soon. Doing
this album has rekindled my desire for gardening.
We are going to loose two of our trees in the front and one tree in the
back to Dutch Elm Disease. Perhaps if I had realized sooner what
it was I could have stopped it in late June. Apparently it is
hard to stop once it starts. And perhaps it could have been
because I brought up wood from the back that may have been
infected. So please burn or bury wood that has been
infected. Next years pictures of the yard in those areas will be
quite different. Just got my fingers crossed big time that we
don't loose the other one in the front. So if my pics look like
its fall already - no it is poor dying trees.
I have done a lot of work in the yard this year. Every weekend
morning I was out there, well almost. I have lots of plans to
implement still. Come April I will be itching again.
Kevin and his lawn tractor do all the mowing. He objects to so
many things to go around but what can I say.
We have a 100x300 ft lot with a paved drive. There was 3 large
trees in front - I put mulch and features around each. I have 4
smaller trees in the front lawn, which also have mulch and features
around them including more plants. Two of the smaller trees are
on the left side of the drive. One of the main flower beds in the
front yard is a large round one where our well head is located.
There are large gardens along the front walk and the front of the house
- full of shrubs and flowers and right now weeds. Along the right
side of the house where the hydro meter is, was supposed to be
wildflowers. I think the only thing that grew was weeds.
Next year I will have to dig up and grow something nice and tall, like
cosmos. Around the back of the house is the rock garden in the
corner. Further out is the large round garden where I have a
constant fight with the Chinese Lanterns. Around the deck there
are few beds, as we were building the deck very little planning went
into gardens there. Some work was done around the fire pit area
and the furthest flower bed. Someday I want a pond out back,
more blueberry bushes and raspberry bushes and on and on and on. I hope
to have a small plan or chart here so that you don't have to read all
this. Unfortunately I just found that the plan I had on computer
has somehow been deleted - man that was a lot of work - now I have to
redo.
