OUR CLUB BANNER..........................AND VEST...............................AND CHARTER!
A BRIEF HISTORY The Hare Bay-Dover chapter of the Lions Club officially began on March 12th 1979 with the approval of its Charter by Lions International. The club started with 20 members and inducted 7 more before year end. CHARTER MEMBERS

Over the years membership has fluctuated from 20 in 1979 to 46 members in 1998 and back to 22 at present but the club has always remained very active. The following is a excerpt from "The Hare Bay--Dover Lions Club: Two Decades of Service" by: Krista Blackwood. (Written in 1998.) "Although not always given the thanks that they deserve, the Hare Bay - Dover Lions Club has quietly made a huge difference to our towns, and to a large number of organizations in it's nineteen year history. The money and time that they selflessly give have improved the lives of countless private citizens; getting them the medical attention they need, money to help them through rough times and sometimes, as we see with their annual Senior Citizens Party, simply a reason to smile. The Lions do all this without expecting, or, wanting anything for themselves except for the personal satisfaction of knowing that they have helped to make a difference in their community, and in the world. It takes a special kind of person to give so freely of themselves, but we are all better off because of them." On March 27th, 2004 we celebrated our 25th Charter Anniversary.
