Home of the Kennedy's, Culzean Castle was built in the late
1700's on a site associated with the Kennedy's since the early
14th century. The construction commenced in 1771 and was
completed in 1792 by Robert Adams.
The wood floors in the castle were laid without nails or glue but
only held in place with wooden pegs. Marble, for the fireplaces
and drawing room, was imported from Italy while the sandstone
that completes the structure was brought to the site from
different locations throughout Scotland.
This castle sits next to Loch Ness, home to the
Loch Ness Monster.
More to come very soon...
