OPP In Elliot Lake

On July , 4 , 2003 at 6:52am , the Elliot Lake Police broadcast there last transmission on 142.9650. The Motorola Spectra W9 Digital Voice Protection was off air.

The same day July , 4 , 2003 at 7:11am the first OPP transmission on 142.665 took to life !
This was a very historical day for us here in Elliot Lake, the ELPD was disbanded by the City in favour of the OPP, it was a cost savings measure and were very proud to have the OPP here.

Activity on the VHF towers took no time at all, several freq's were in use by the OPP that day. However there is a fixed amount of freqs now in use by the OPP in Elliot Lake.

With talk of the new Provincial Digital System, ( See Menu ' Digital ' ) the new system will not be any where near our zone until mid to late 2004, even that date gets pushed back from time to time.

It doesn't seem like many freqs in use here, but the members of North Scan monitor the OPP, this page will always be updated.

North Bay handles all dispatching , the unit numbers that are Elliot Lake OPP are 260 - 261 There are many freqs in use by the OPP, but so far we have only heard traffic on the above. Its a good idea to program in as many as possible from our Towers list...just never know. Plus more information will come in time from our monitors out there.
