Marriage

There were women in my life, Nancy Bell was my first steady girlfriend but my sister Jackie broke that one up. Louise Lefebvre and Rosaline Retty were some of the girls I dated. Nancy Sanborne was my second steady, she was with me in the group years but I fell in love with Janice Nadjiwon with whom I'd eventually marry.

Len and Anne Nadjiwon had seven children, Ron, Charles, Brian, Lynne, Janice, Susan and Michael. Ron married Nancy Steel and they had two daughters, Leanne and Lisa. Charles married Corrine and they had Katie and Jeffery. Brian married Cathy Sommers and they had Jodie, Jillian and Breanna. Lynne married Barry Donnely and they had two sons Kent and Gene. Jan married Jim Puddy and they had Arin, Ryan and Chad. Sue married Dan Ferrans and they had Janice-Lynne and Justin. Michael married Dianne Trudeau and they had Phillip, Ashley and Spencer.

One day in June 1972 I married Jan and we set up our love nest above the laundromat on Ontario Street. I was driving the blue Vauxhall Firenza at that time. My dad started to have health problems and wanted to retire to the Puddy cottage at Lake Dyson in the Muskokas. We took over the payments and moved into my parents house at 299 Birch Street. I remember driving home one day in my Firenza and someone left the cap off the oil filler, probably me, and some quick action with a fire extinguisher saved the day and the neighbour hood from an exploding car.

My first son Arin was born while we were the house in Lively. Just after Christmas 1974 December 27 I took Jan to the hospital. I remember me and her Mother waiting and waiting. It took twelve hours of excruciating pain before the doctors decided to operate. A beautiful baby boy resulted.

We decided to sell our home in Lively and moved to a basement apartment down on Old Soo Road. I remember Jan, when she took a shower in that place, always complained about the shocks she had to put up with.

We were building a house on some land we bought from Mr Austin #2 O'Neil Cresscent. Jan's brother Charles helped me build the house and without him I couldn't have done it. Jan was pregnant with my second son Ryan and she was looking after Arin so she could not help me.

January 29th 1976 was the day Jan was scheduled for surgery for Ryan's birth. After it was all over and the baby was safe, I took a look at Jan and I remember she was lying on her side, all covered up with hot sheets, I passed out.

Then again in May 6th, 1980 she gave me a third son Chad Michael John. I did not pass out, I was starting to become familiar with the General Hospital.

Life was good at those times, we didn't have much money, but I think that is a Puddy trait living from payday to payday. There was always lots of love in our home.

We continued on until August 15th 1989, then I was involved in a motorcycle mishap which put me in a comma for three and one half months. When I finally woke up I didn't recognize my own family and friends. Brother in law Ron Nadjiwon greatly assisted me during that time and it must have been very hard on my wife and children, to pick up the pieces.

Fast forward to February 2003 all of our parents are deceased, my father and Jan's father passed away in 1990, our mothers Phyllis and Anne passed away in 1998 . Jan and I are separated back in 1992 and she lives in Thunder Bay and sees Chad, he is living with Stacey, a high school teacher. Jan is manager of Indian Affairs. Arin is living in Calgary and he has a daughter Emma, my first grandchild. Ryan married Keri Frank in June 2002.

I never thought that there would be someone else for me. I was quite content with my life as it was till I met Denise Boissonneualt. She brings out the feelings that I used to have for my wife, Jan.

I met her through a computer dating service Dreamates and believe or not she is my Dream Mate.
