It seems that there are many instances in this life where one
is required to put their faith in someone or something. And there is a tendency to get
burnt. Does that mean that we shouldn't trust? I don't think so. Benefit of the doubt and
all that, eh. It's the ones who have already abused that trust that one should be leery
of. There is nobody to blame, if a repeat performance occurs, except oneself. Doesn't mean
that it's easy. Doesn't mean that its fair. Just the way it is. Once trust is lost, there
is no simple route to regaining it. Although some think that there is.
Perhaps some primitive societies had it right when they had
a trial by ordeal to clear a persons honour. Maybe it's a good sign of the state of
today's "alleged" civilization. Honour has become an outdated concept for many.
The term respect has lost it's meaning. It's used by some of the more violent segments of
this planet as an excuse to do unto the other guy. And in some twisted fashion retain
their own sense of self worth. We are surrounded by sick individuals.
In too many places anarchy reigns. Which is not to say that I'm
not an anarchist, of sorts. There is a difference between freedom to live a good life and
the freedom to abuse others for personal gain. This is one sick planet.
